Cleveland-Cliffs Steel LLC is seeking a dedicated Sustainability Engineer to join our team. This role is crucial for fostering environmental responsibility and enhancing our ecological performance across our operations. The facility encompasses various processes including iron production, coke manufacturing, steel fabrication, and finishing operations. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, identify, and implement enhancements to the facility's multi-media environmental programs, ensuring adherence to relevant environmental regulations.
  • Conduct root cause analyses alongside operational teams and environmental specialists to determine effective solutions for environmental challenges.
  • Oversee projects aimed at environmental improvement initiatives.
  • Balance responsibilities between office tasks and fieldwork in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Execute safety audits, hazard evaluations, and safety interactions as necessary.
  • Provide support for plant operations during weekends and in emergency situations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least five (5) years of experience in Environmental Management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related Environmental Fields.
  • Ability to comprehend State and Federal environmental laws and regulations.
  • Self-motivated with strong prioritization skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Able to collaborate effectively in both small and large teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in engaging with operations, maintenance, instrumentation, and engineering to address emission control issues, including participation in the procurement of pollution control technologies and services.
  • Background in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in project management and strategic planning.
  • Familiarity with water or environmental systems.
  • Experience in maintenance or process engineering.
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience, preferably in a manufacturing context.
