PURPOSE Responsible for overseeing with the guidance of the Corporate Director of Materials of the Corporate Lab in providing material development, prototyping, testing, and process evaluation services to internal & external customers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Maintain Corporate Lab Manual to be in compliance with the instructions to assure accurate testing and reporting data. Assist in the direction of testing activities that are completed on a daily activity conducted at the Corporate Lab. Prepare reports and maintain records. Enforce prescribed safety rules and regulations; ensure that the Corporate Lab is maintained in a neat and orderly condition. Assist in compound material development. Assist in activities for the design of materials for new programs and current production programs. Interface with customers and with suppliers, as necessary, in support of Company sales activities. Assist with and support quotation activities at any Robin Division. Develop test methods and procedures as they relate to material and product testing. Keep updated on the latest materials, equipment and process technologies. Select and recommend existing materials, where appropriate, for particular product applications, and/or recommend new compound development where justifiable. Maintain current test equipment to assure accurate testing protocol is utilized. Executing regulatory requests for information from customers. Requesting quotes and arranging resting with external labs for projects when needed. Interpretation of analytical test results to aid in decision making and problem solving. ADDITIONAL SKILLS OR CREDENTIALS: Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, polymer science or related field. 3 to 5 years of experience Experience working with, testing and mixing polymers preferred. Good polymer knowledge Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication skills Self-motivated and a self-starter with prioritization skills a must Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, use hands to position or move, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs., frequently lift and/ or move up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
