Essentials Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develops, implements and evaluates volunteer recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Communicates with all programs of the organization to identify available opportunities and needs for volunteers
  • Directs an on-going recruiting effort to increase volunteer participation
  • Provides initial contact for all volunteer applicants, completes necessary screenings and works with program staff to place volunteers.
  • Prepares, schedules and runs volunteer orientations and training sessions.
  • Assigns volunteers to appropriate activities
  • Maintains on-going communication with volunteers
  • Submits timely reports to Director of Development regarding volunteer activities and levels of participation
  • Maintains volunteer personnel files
  • Compiles and maintains volunteer records, records volunteer hours, schedule or status changes, generate reports for program reporting and statistics as needed. Ensures required documentation for activities within areas of responsibility is performed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Designs volunteer appreciation activities or programs
  • Establish and maintain a professional presence and working relationship with the Development Committee and the Board of Directors.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability multi-task and be a self-starter.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment with a professional and diplomatic demeanor.
  • Excellent word processing skills and experiences with other software applications (Adobe, Canvas, Prezi, Publisher).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Superior organizational and time-management skills.
  • Must be focused and meticulous with details.
  • Ability to relate to diverse populations and cultures while communicating with staff, clients and the public in a professional and effective manner.


Recommended Employment Qualifications:

Education:

  • A Bachelor Degree in a related field is strongly preferred, however, not required.

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of related volunteer experience in an office setting interfacing with community members.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • none required

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
