In order to best support individuals with disabilities in acquiring inclusive, meaningful employment, an Employment Specialist performs the following duties:
- Communicate on a regular basis with support services personal agents, co-workers, and vocational rehabilitation counselors, families, client case managers, and networks of support to report progress and identify solutions to employment barriers.
- Develop and maintain written Vocational Profiles for all individuals receiving job development services.
- Utilize the principles of individualized job development to negotiate jobs for people referred to BAE by Vocational Rehabilitation and other agencies. Hands-on training and shadowing will be provided.
- Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with Vocational Rehabilitation and local placement agencies.
- Build relationships with employers to facilitate skill building, assessments, and job placements.
- Paid certification training will be provided.
- Meet with community partner agencies.
- Perform all other duties as assigned to ensure that the department and organizational strategic goals and mission are met.
- May provide assistance to clients in learning their job duties.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to work.
- Must be able to pass federal, state, and local background checks.
- Must pass drug test (excluding THC). Random drug testing may occur.
- High School Diploma Required.
- Experience working with people with disabilities.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
