Job Description:
The mission of the New York Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in our City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The NYPD strives to foster a safe city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of Department operations and solve the problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between people and its police, and by pioneering strategic innovation.
The Expenditure Monitoring Unit monitors specific expenditures for investigative commands within the New York City Police Department. This entails reviewing, examining, and analyzing invoices, expense reports and supporting documentation. The documents submitted by the Investigative commands are checked for accuracy and compliance with the Department's policies, procedures, rules, guidelines and standards. The individual will be utilizing QuickBooks and Excel to document and enter investigative expenditures transactions and using the information to reconcile with the command's records. In addition, the ideal candidate will prepare bank reconciliations and maintaining ledgers and journals in QuickBooks and Excel in order to produce reports for Management for budgetary purposes. The ideal candidate must be able to articulate issues in written words and be able to effectively communicate verbally and offering solutions to any irregularities.

The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loan after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full time for a qualifying employer, such as a U.S. federal, state, local, or tribal government or not-for-profit organization. You may be able to consolidate a Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) and Federal Perkins Loan into a Direct Loan to qualify for PSLF.
In compliance with Federal Law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.

Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, accredited by regional, national, professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in accounting, including one course each in advanced accounting and auditing; or
2. A valid New York State Certified Public Accountant license.
To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II individuals must have, in addition to meeting the minimum requirements, at least one year of experience as an Accountant - Assignment Level I or at least two years of satisfactory full-time professional accounting or auditing experience.
