Yosemite Pathology is a private independent pathologist-owned and operated surgical pathology and cytology laboratory based in Modesto, CA. YP provides comprehensive state-of-the-art, reliable, and accurate diagnostic services to its physicians and major area hospitals in the Alameda, Amador, Calaveras, Contra Costa, Kern, Mariposa, Merced, San Joaquin, Solano, Stanislaus, Tuolumne counties.

YP offers a full spectrum of tissue pathology, cytology, and histology services, including examination of gynecologic specimens, body fluids, and fine needle aspiration specimens. We also offer an extensive array of special stains and immunohistochemistry to assist in the management of oncologic and non-oncologic diseases. The laboratory is supported by highly qualified Histotechnologist, Cytotechnologists, Technicians, and office staff who offer excellent service.

Summary/Objective

Under general supervision, the Patient Care Coordinator is proficient in all of the functions required of a receptionist and required administrative tasks. They are directly responsible for decision-making, interacting with, and reporting to the Office Manager. The Patient Care Coordinator will act as a primary point of contact for all clients, patients, and clinicians, ensuring quality customer service and support to the administrative and medical staff.

Essential Functions
•All standard front desk duties including but not limited to: answering telephones, filing, receiving deliveries, and greeting guests.
•Print and sort pathology reports to be delivered to clients; regularly communicate with the internal team and document changes to clients' report delivery preferences.
•Assist with data entry verification (requisition checking) of new cases each day.
•Regularly check fax machine and distribute received faxes to intended recipients according to type.
•Distribute molecular testing results received from outside laboratories to treating physicians via fax.
•Regularly follow up with outside facilities for results not yet received.
•Sort received patient results from outside facilities for entry in LIS for pathologists to review and sign out.
•Assist with data entry of received results from outside laboratories for pathologists' review and sign-out.
•Sort original copies of laboratory requisitions, document case numbers, and packages for delivery to the Revenue Cycle Department.
•Assist in the fulfillment of send-out requests and maintain detailed documentation; schedule courier services to pick up send-out materials for delivery to receiving facilities; follow up with outside facilities to return borrowed materials and provide copies of pathology reports.
•Promptly and accurately document when materials are returned from outside facilities.
•Promptly and accurately document materials received from outside laboratories, and return in a timely manner.
•Gather reports, patient histories, and paperwork for pathologists' review as requested.
•Submit authorizations, and find ICD10 codes/history to get payor approval
•Respond to subpoena requests.
•Order office supplies.
•Any other clerical duties as may be needed.

Minimum Job Requirements and Skills
•High School Diploma or higher
•Minimum two years in a medical front office setting
•Typing 50 WPM
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Excel, Word
•Strong customer service and courteous phone presence
•Initiative and critical thinking; self-motivated problem solver
•Highly detailed and organized
•Familiarity with insurance plans, authorizations, and medical billing
•Ability to comfortably and effectively interact with physicians, nurses and patients on a daily basis.
