Options for Community Living, Inc. is looking for a Human Resources Assistant to join our team An ideal candidate should meet the following requirements:

Salary Range:

$40,000/yr. ($21.98/hr.) - $45,000/yr. ($24.73/hr.).

Salary offers will be commensurate with experience and other qualifications.

Schedule: Monday - Friday: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (35 hours/week)

Location: In-person based out of our Ronkonkoma office

Pay Type: Non-exempt

Responsibilities:

The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for providing general support to the Human Resources Department. In addition, the HR Assistant helps to ensure that the agency's personnel policies and procedures are followed.
  • Receives and responds to all general Human Resources phone calls. Answers questions when possible and routes calls to appropriate staff member as necessary.
  • Maintain employee files according to federal record-keeping guidelines and ensure all forms are up to date, appropriate and properly affixed to folders.
  • Ensure files are retained for terminated employees according to the agency's record retention policy and any applicable state and federal guidelines. Purge records on a quarterly basis in accordance with the agency's record retention policy. Prepare files for off-site storage as necessary.
  • Perform reference checks.
  • Maintain and update HRIS and learning management system with staffing changes as necessary.
  • Update learning management system with employee documentation expiration dates (i.e. TB test, auto insurance, First Aid, CPR, Narcan etc.).
  • Ensure there is an adequate supply of new hire and offer packets.
  • Serve as backup for new employee first day orientation. Ensure all new hire paperwork is completed thoroughly and accurately.
  • Attend job fairs. Attend other events to help establish the agency as an "employer of choice" in the social services field.
  • Create engaging, informative content for job fairs, HR agency events and other agency events as needed.
  • Conduct phone screenings for and interview potential entry level applicants as needed. Assist HR Recruiter with recruitment efforts as needed.
  • Maintain and update Telephone Extension List.
  • Train and remain current on all applicable employment laws.
  • Cross train on other HR functions and procedures.
  • May perform other miscellaneous duties as required to ensure efficient operation of the HR department.
