Responsibilities

Work involves functioning as a technical liaison between purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers to resolve quality issues, implement and monitor advanced quality planning, and provide support using independent judgment within the limits of general practices and standards. Purchased parts qualification and approval for mass production.

Qualifications

Assists in the implementation and monitoring of advanced quality planning with selected future product suppliers Assure supplier understanding of product and submission requirements Review and approve supplier quality plans on new part programs Review supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems Implement and monitor the part qualification and certification process with selected suppliers Provide training in the area of Lean Manufacturing. Support Kaizen activity pertaining to process and systems development Determine the cause of supplier quality problems and coordinate/implement effective and timely resolutions Improve the quality performance of assigned suppliers Maintain required documentation and files May determine part critical characteristics and required process controls May review tool, fixture, and part design May participate as a member or resource to product development teams Up to 30% travel which could be up to a week at a time with short notice Education / Experience:

4-year degree or equivalent experience in the automotive or manufacturing environment and at least 2 years of related experience. Without a degree, 8-10 years of related experience is needed. Supplier quality engineering experience is required, with advanced supplier quality engineering experience to include new product engineering and process changes preferred. Other Required Skills
