The Executive Director of Development (EDOD) is an essentialadministrator in the Division of University Relations and astrategic leader in the planning and execution of annualfundraising goals and university-wide fundraising campaigns. TheExecutive Director directs a portfolio of fundraising programswithin the Central Development organization: Regional Fundraising,Parent and Family Philanthropy, Special Initiative Fundraisers (DoGood and Campus Priorities) as well as constituent units:University Libraries, Undergraduate Studies, and the Division ofStudent Affairs. This role also supports engagement and fundraisingopportunities with affiliated programs throughout the University asneeded. The Executive Director will work closely with deans andother campus leadership, developing fundraising priorities andstrategies for their respective units. Reporting to theAssistant Vice President for Central Development, the ExecutiveDirector will assist in the development of ambitious fundraisinggoals and establish performance metrics for units and staff undersupervision, driving efficiency and maximizing philanthropicsupport. The Executive Director will utilize data analytics toolsto identify trends and formulate strategies to drive the giftofficer metrics framework and must understand how to utilize datato coach, provide support, and drive results. Additionally, theExecutive Director will work with development officers and campuspartners to create and execute donor strategies; provide trainingand mentorship to fundraising staff; and maintain their ownportfolio of high-level prospects. The Executive Directorpromotes and facilitates integration, collaboration, and teamworkbetween all departments throughout the Division as appropriate, tomaximize engagement and philanthropic opportunity in support of theuniversity’s strategic mission. An understanding of developmentbest practices, trends, and emerging strategies is crucial tosupport the growth of philanthropy at the University. As astrategic leader, the Executive Director serves on the developmentleadership team and acts as a representative of UniversityRelations throughout the University. This role anticipates travelapproximately 20% of the time and requires the availability to workevenings and weekends as necessary for events, donor meetings, andprograms.
