Family Support Network Coordinator

This position with the Frederick County Infants and Toddlers Program (FCITP) with Frederick County Developmental Center provides ongoing support and resources for eligible families who have children with developmental delays or disabilities from birth through age five and through transition to Part B services into the public school system.
In addition, this position provides ongoing resourcing support to FCITP staff as well as providing regular community outreach within Frederick County.
Supervision is received from the FCDC Systems Supervisor.

Provide support to the Infants and Toddlers Program staff and eligible families by informing them of community resources, financial grant opportunities, outreach events, and trainings
Collaborate with FCITP leadership and staff (as well as FCPS family outreach staff) to develop, organize, and facilitate family engagement events, group opportunities, informational workshops, and outreach opportunities
Create, publish, and distribute materials for caregivers of children with developmental delays and interested community partners via bimonthly newsletter, flyers, emails, social media posts
Maintain FCITP email distribution list and oversee FCDC social media page
Represent FCITP as a member in the Local Interagency Coordinating Council and Judy Center community partner team and provide outreach and support to community partners and families
Facilitate ongoing support groups for FCITP, as well as in the community
Coordinate therapeutic opportunities for children with special needs with community partners such as FCPS, Parks & Rec, FLIPS, FCPL, etc.
Maintain Parent-to-Parent database, as well as FCITP’s Lending Library, Community Closet, and outreach supplies
Work 1:1 with families and community partners to seek grant funding for equipment and basic needs for the children and families we serve
Attend various activities to include play groups, collaborate FCPS events, outreach events, etc.
Maintain and provide required data to FCITP Director for grants and other reports
Enter data into Maryland State Department of Education database, following the data reporting requirements and deadlines for FCDC and MSDE
Encourage families to participate in the MSDE Annual Family Survey, as well as FCITP’s Local Interagency Coordinating Council (LICC)
Perform other duties as assigned

High school graduation or the equivalent
Minimum 1 year experience navigating human services resources
Minimum 1 year data entry work experience
Parent of a child with a disability per Maryland State Department of Education requirement
Current certification in First Aid and CPR, or ability to obtain during first department offered opportunity
Possession of a valid automobile operator’s license
NOTE:
Additional related education may substitute for a portion of the work experience requirement
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Ability to maintain County Authorized Driver privileges
Knowledge of early intervention, special education, and disabilities
Knowledge of IFSP, Extended IFSP, and IEP process
Knowledge of Maryland State Department of Education’s requirements, parental rights and dispute resolution in early intervention and special education
Knowledge of Infants and Toddlers Program mission and vision, as well as current Evidenced Based Practices used by service providers
Knowledge of transition resources and community resources for children with disabilities
Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
Strong writing skills to support a range of content, including social media, email communications, grant writing, research, trainings, and reports
Ability to maintain, monitor, and provide content for social media accounts
Strong clerical and record-keeping skills, including the ability to accurately perform basic math functions
Ability to accurately compile and prepare data and reports
Ability to effectively access and utilize Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, Power Point, e-mail, spreadsheet and other systems and equipment, and to learn new software as it is required
Ability to effectively organize work, determine priorities, including the ability to make decisions and complete assigned duties with minimal supervision
Discretion and good judgment in dealing with sensitive and personal information with ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality
Strong and effective spoken and written (English) communication skills including the ability to clearly explain policies and procedures
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, community partners, caregivers of children with disabilities and the general public
PREFERENCE MAY BE GIVEN FOR:
Additional related education
Experience in marketing and/or communications
Intermediate skills using MS Office Word software
Experience in the navigation of transition resources and community resources for children with disabilities
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
While working in this position, the employee is required to constantly sit, walk, and perform repetitive motions; frequently stoop, reach and drive; occasionally climb/ascend/descend, and lift up to 20 pounds; and rarely lift up to 50 pounds
While working in this position, the employee is required to constantly work indoors, outdoors, and is required to wear protective equipment; and occasionally is required to walk on uneven ground
Available for evening and weekend hours as needed for outreach events, supports groups and meetings
Ability to provide own transportation to meetings, etc.
This position is subject to random drug testing
This position is considered essential personnel in the event of a public health emergency
