This person will be critical in the implementation and ongoing success of our upcoming AutoStore installation, an automated parts retrieval system. Role and Responsibilities: Supports engineering team in the design, installation, and commissioning-related activities for medium-large warehouse automation capex projects ($1M+). Leads technical improvement initiatives; becomes technical subject matter expert in AS/RS, conveyance, and/or other warehouse material handling equipment. Utilizes machine PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) to control and optimize automated equipment and processes. Troubleshoots and resolves issues related to sensor integration and functionality. Collaborates with cross-functional teams and contractors for the installation and implementation of automation systems. Provides regular updates on project progress and participates in project engineering/operations meetings. Conducts thorough testing of automated systems to ensure functionality, reliability, and safety. Creates comprehensive documentation for system designs, system configurations, and troubleshooting procedures. May lead cross-functional projects that result in measurable process improvement & cost reductions. Develops & coordinates activities associated with 5S & Six Sigma methodologies to promote continuous process improvements. Utilizes WMS (warehouse management system) software to analyze data, make determinations of best practices for operations. Other duties as assigned by manager. Skills, Education and Training: B.S. degree in one of the following or similar fields: Industrial, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. 2-3 years of experience in automation engineering, process engineering or related engineering role. Experience in applying Lean 6 Sigma, 5S methodologies or similar. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Strong proficiency in English. Experience integrating AMRs, AGVs, AS/RS or other goods-to-person systems preferred. Data analysis capability - statistical analysis of the data to make decisions, data mining/manipulating and analyzing to develop reports and procedures is preferred. Familiar with PowerBI, using SQL databases, or other visualization tools is preferred.
