This position will ensure technical completion of the project objectives in Automation and FGS including the ICSS / SCADA / FGS, other Packaged Equipment’s Control Systems (PECS), and the Process Control Network (PCN).The position will coordinate with the Main Automation Contractor (Emerson), Telecom Integration Contractor (TBD) and the Main Engineering Contractor (WOOD) and PECS control systems engineers.


This position will be located at the Wood office in Houston, Texas with occasional travel as required. This role reports to the Willow Engineering Manager. During future project phases, it is possible that this role may relocate to fabrication locations and/or Alaska.



Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Automation and FGS design related to the Willow Project.
  • Review and in some cases approve project Automation, FGS and Functional Safety deliverables ensuring compliance with external and Company requirements, specifications, and goals.
  • Act as Willow Automation and FGS Discipline engineer with accountability for approving Specification Deviations.
  • Engage and maintain communications with COPA Technical Authorities.
  • Early identification of package design decisions and coordination of engineering team in bringing the issues to resolution.
  • Manage relevant Technical Query responses and coordinate Project Specification Deviations.
  • Ensure project objectives and goals are met and project activities / work are performed and completed according to the agreed schedule.
  • Participate in development of operation, maintenance and start-up philosophies and procedures.
  • Review relevant input into bid documents and responses.
  • Participate in PHA’s and safeguard evaluations as appropriate including Functional Safety aspects.
  • Actively support and promote ConocoPhillips Alaska IFC “Incident Free Culture” with employees and contractor’s personnel.
  • Participate in project planning and contract strategy processes.
  • Be an active and visible role model, and promote motivation, good communication and a positive work environment.
  • Actively promote Company knowledge sharing; apply best practices, synergies, and lessons learned from other projects and operations.



Qualification Requirements:

Basic / Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Control System Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years experience working with Automation / Telecom Systems
  • 3+ years of projects / engineering experience in oil and gas industry
  • Strong knowledge of rules, regulations, standards, and specifications applicable for major oil & gas facility design (API, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, ISA, etc.)
  • Familiarity with the corporate Process Control Network Security Standards.
  • Demonstrated performance as part of a team working projects
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong multi-tasking skills with ability to manage multiple ongoing activities
  • 10% - 20 % travel expected



Preferred:

  • Previous experience with Arctic North Slope facilities and projects
  • Experience designing, programing, and maintaining Emerson DeltaV Control Systems, Allen Bradley Controllogix PLC, and AspenTech IP21 systems
  • Knowledge of various serial and Ethernet communications protocols
  • Familiarity with IEC 61508 and ANSI/ISA 61511
