ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Comply with Westlake Safety Policies and Procedures * Performs general housekeeping duties to help maintain a clean and safe work area. * Attends company-sponsored training when necessary. * Reports to work daily and on time unless otherwise excused. * Abides by all of Westlake's safety and/or quality policies and procedures. * Enforces and assists in recommendations for quality improvement. * Identifies, coaches, and trains employees in leadership positions. * Conducts employee reviews and submits evaluations to the H.R. department. * Report all incidents and/or injuries to Plant Superintendent and Safety Manager. * Assists with inspections of finished roof tile to confirm quality control of product. * Trains and supervises department employees to detect unsatisfactory product quality. * Works with facilities to ensure that products of unsatisfactory quality are rejected. * Works with the Manager - Quality on divisional performance metrics * Aids in the development, training, and production of new products and product changes * Works with Warranty Claims Department on product claims * Ensures QC metrics and product audits are performed and documented periodically, meeting and/or exceeding QC standard. * Works with facilities management to ensure color process application, stone coating process, clay roof tile manufacturing, and concrete mix quality meet QC standards while minimizing waste. * Responsible for the development and enforcement of standard operating procedures as it pertains to quality. * Responsible for management of the Root Cause Analysis process as it pertains to product quality defects. * Attends all weekly staff meetings. * Organizes and conducts periodic meetings with quality control employees. * Will see that work hours, breaks, and lunch periods are properly administered as to timing and duration and will administer written warnings to those in violation of the Westlake Attendance Policy. * Occasionally assists with incident reports/disciplinary forms. * Performs other duties as assigned or needed. * Required at least 50% travel. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES * Attention to detail and accuracy. * Must be able to read and write in English. * Ability to receive and carry out instructions given by upper management. * Ability to model desired behavior and conduct for all employees. * Must be safety minded and alert during times of operation. * Demonstrated traits of honesty and integrity and ability to maintain confidential information. * Must be able to perform simple mathematical functions. * Ability to track process information as needed. * Ability to communicate instructions about work procedures. * Demonstrated leadership and management skills with multi-level reporting relationships. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE * Bachelor's degree * 1 to 3 years working in a manufacturing environment in the quality department. * Two years of concrete, clay or stone coated metal roof tile manufacturing experience ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT The employee should possess the ability to: * Be exposed to sounds or noise levels above 85db. that maybe uncomfortable. * Withstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or out. * Prolong standing or in a stationary position. * Complete repetitive movements * Bend and/or twist * Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds * Ability to move or traverse the facilities. * Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances and in various environmental conditions. * Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, steel-toed boots, vision and hardhat protection)
