Job Summary: The staff accountant reports to the Director of Financial Accounting and is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day accounting and record-keeping activities. This position requires attention to detail, timeliness, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and customer service while adhering to the standards set by the Company. This position is expected to be innovative with respect to Accounting and Financial Reporting. The position is also responsible for assisting in maintaining a robust internal control environment, conducting accounting research, and setting and implementing standard accounting policies and procedures. Review all activities with a goal toward automation and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities: Assist in the completion of monthly financial statements in accordance with IFRS and stakeholder requirements, including the balance sheet, income statement, cash flows, and other supporting schedules. Assist in the completion of year-end audited financial statements and footnotes including the timely completion of the annual audit by the company’s external accountants. Assist the team in the month-end close process by booking entries, analyzing, and reconciling data. Assist in managing accounting for fixed assets and its associated journal entries including maintenance of the subledger, posting, and reconciliation of all activity and required reporting. Prepare and review month-end account reconciliations. Reconcile Sales tax general ledger accounts. Assist in researching technical accounting issues and evaluating new technical accounting developments, ensuring that accounting policies comply with IFRS and are adequately documented. Continuously seek ways to improve processes and gain efficiency in the completion of daily tasks while ensuring quality of work. Lead the team’s process improvement initiatives. Establish and maintain operating KPIs to ensure quality and efficiency of processes. Assist in the internal audit and other compliance requirements such as insurance and 401K audit. Other projects, analysis, and ad hoc reporting as determined by the Senior Accountant and Director of Financial Accounting. Work with other departments as needed to resolve issues and provide support identified as part of the accounting process. Special projects as directed.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required. 0-1 years of accounting experience. Knowledge and understanding of IFRS accounting principles. Must be able to work in a quick-paced environment and effectively manage/prioritize multiple tasks or issues. Strong research and communication skills, both written and verbal. Highly organized and detail-oriented. Ability to complete projects and assignments with minimal direction. Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Strong MS Excel skills. Experience with Microsoft Office and accounting software, with preferred experience in ERP systems such as Microsoft Navision and Microsoft D365.
