Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT), you will administer respiratory care to patients by the attending physician. You will conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, therapy.

  • You will initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanically ventilated patients
  • You will administer and monitor respiratory care treatments
  • You will record pertinent information in patients medical record
  • You will perform noninvasive and invasive diagnostic tests and monitoring
  • You will perform cleaning, preventative maintenance and calibration of respiratory care equipment as required
  • You will function as respiratory care protocol assessor

Job Qualifications

Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience
  • Acute care hospital experience preferred

Education

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Graduate of approved respiratory certification program or sufficient college credits to qualify for certification exam preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license by the State of Texas
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist exam must be taken and passed within 6 months of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as per St. Davids HealthCare policy
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification as per St. Davids HealthCare policy
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification as per St. Davids HealthCare policy

St. David's Medical Center is a full-service hospital located in central Austin, Texas. This 300+ bed facility features a 24-hour emergency department, the regions largest Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and the internationally-renowned Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute and St. David's Neuroscience & Spine Institute. The full scope of services provided at St. David's Medical Center includes cancer care, heart and vascular care, imaging services, joint replacement and orthopedics, women's services, complex surgical services, and a Bariatric Surgery Center. The facility is home to a 60+ bed rehabilitation hospital providing both inpatient and outpatient comprehensive care.
