Position Overview

The Director of Operations is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing various business functions and daily operations of the firm. This role reports to the Managing Partner and involves supervising professional staff, administering policies and procedures, and providing strategic support to firm leadership.

Key Responsibilities

- Staff Supervision: Directly supervise support staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and counseling. Ensure adequate support is provided based on attorney needs.

- Policy and Procedure Administration: Implement and monitor compliance with firm policies and procedures. Develop and update office policies as needed.

- Facilities Management: Oversee office maintenance, repairs, space allocation, and any renovations or remodeling projects. Manage relationships with vendors to ensure optimal service and pricing.

- Strategic Support: Assist firm leadership with strategic planning and the execution of firm-wide initiatives. Attend management meetings and facilitate communication of office issues.

- HR Administration: Administer HR policies, manage staffing levels, participate in recruitment and selection processes, and oversee on-boarding and integration of new staff.

- Operational Efficiency: Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and cost savings. Ensure internal controls are in place and effective.

- In-House Programs: Develop in-house programs for attorneys and staff, including coordination of continuing legal education offerings.

Qualifications

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.

- Experience: Minimum of seven years of related business management experience, including direct supervision of staff. Prior experience in a law firm is required.

- Skills: Strong understanding of financial principles, proficiency with Microsoft Office and financial billing systems, excellent interpersonal skills, superior customer service orientation, and a flexible approach to work.

- Attributes: Demonstrable problem-solving abilities, effective communication strategies, and a commitment to fostering a productive and inclusive work environment.
