Position Overview: Provide engineering/technical expertise to solve complex problems regarding electric distribution utility design. The incumbent will create construction work packages in support of electric distribution systems using various software and engineering standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems regarding electric distribution utility design
- Effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities
- Thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and drawings.
- Continuous improvement of job-related engineering, technical and professional knowledge
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Accurate record keeping
- As needed, assist in power restoration efforts with natural disaster events
- Support of the company's goals and represent the company in a positive and professional manner
- Bachelor's degree from an EAC/ABET accredited Engineering Program OR an approved evaluation of non-ABET credentials by NCEES OR graduation from a Master's or Doctoral Program in Engineering from an institution with EAC/ABET accredited Undergraduate Engineering Programs.
- 2 to 4 years of prior relevant experience
- Experience with the following systems: PoleForeman, SEDS, G-Net, and SmallWorld
- Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles.
- Understanding of how to research engineering and design issues, evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations to implement solutions
- Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Engineer In Training Certification
- Experience in the electric distribution utility industry
- Understanding of basic principles of project management
- Experience in overhead to underground conversion design
- Ability to perform electric distribution calculations, create drawings and Bill of Materials for construction work packages
- Self-Motivated
- Work independently
- Team-Oriented
- Customer Oriented
- Able to manage multiple tasks and provide leadership to other team members.
