The ideal candidate will be responsible for finding goods and services for the company at the best value regarding quality and price. The type of goods procured varies from one industry to another with the underlying duty of meeting budget constraints to increase profitability. Additional duties of this position include assisting with the analysis and preparation of contracts and working closely with upper management teams as well as outside vendors to meet project requirements.
Your daily challenges and goals
Take initiative and play a leading role in Master Data maintenance for Service Parts and related data, including but not limited to supersession management, parts descriptions, supplier maintenance, purchase pricing, and cost savings.
Daily review, independent interpretation of Material Resource Planning system data and decision on procurement of Service Parts based on such data.
Identification of new suppliers in accordance with company policies and procedures and initiation of approved new supplier relationships
Assist in creating team SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for process improvement efforts.
Creating and maintaining metrics for purchase order fulfilment by suppliers, timely receipt, and creation of follow up mechanisms.
Expediting vendor acceptance of orders and terms and conditions; ensuring prompt and accurate work completion; assisting in establishing firm and acceptable schedules; and submitting detailed weekly and monthly project status reports when requested.
Expediting approval drawings and vendor production schedules while maintaining project schedule and confirming no delays.
Tracking/troubleshooting vendor data, drawings, equipment/materials quotes and delivery schedules between engineering, purchasing, vendors, and construction site.
Soliciting internal approvals from engineering, project managers, and site construction managers.
What do you need to succeed in this Role?
Bachelors degree in business management, Supply Chain, Finance or related field from accredited university (preferred)
Experience in construction or manufacturing industry.
Extensive experience working in the procurement department in a related field.
Certified Purchasing Manager, APICS (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) preferred.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, expert level knowledge of MS Excel to compile and format data.
Experience and knowledge of parts and components of construction machinery, ideally experience working on construction machinery.
Have outstanding phone etiquette, fluent in verbal and written English, with the ability to speak and write in English clearly and accurately.
Have strong attention to detail.
Demonstrate a high degree of creativity and mature judgement in anticipating and solving non-reoccurring, unprecedented problems. Have a Root Cause/Countermeasure approach to problem solving (analytical vs. intuitive)
Have a strong desire to build and continuously improve processes and systems.
Have strong communication, presentation skills and teamwork skills with the ability to build trust and credibility.
Have high energy with a sense of urgency, resiliency, and self-confidence.
