POSITION SUMMARY

  • Responsible for the management of the production raw materials procurement function of the Corporation. Duties include the supervision of Purchasing Department personnel. Responsible for raw material related Plex system data accuracy and MPG related data in any OEM raw material system.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Responsible for the management of the production raw materials procurement function of the corporation.
  • Supervise production raw materials purchasing department personnel.
  • Has authority to negotiate payment terms, price, freight and LTA's
  • Has responsibility to approve contracts created by the department Purchasing Agents.
  • Receives quotations and secures bids. Monitors advanced quoting to monitor market and insure future margins.
  • Establishes and/or approves sources of raw materials.
  • Establishes production raw material purchase contracts per established purchase requisitions from Engineering or Materials functions
  • Reviews and approves production material purchasing department documents.
  • Expedites and follows up on raw material purchases when required.
  • Reviews incoming raw material requisitions, assigns work in Plex and makes recommendations to buyers.
  • Handles recommendations and authorizes approval of all raw material purchases.
  • Keeps abreast of automotive materials markets and materials pricing trends that affect company products.
  • Ensures supplier adherence to releases, deliveries and quality, and maintains appropriate supplier contacts.
  • Maintains current Plex database of information. Must understand Plex BOM, MRP, Releasing, and PO relationships for accuracy.
  • Identifies potential cost savings.
  • Maintains reports on raw material cost savings and price increases.
  • Monitors and maintains raw material supplier performance activities with SQA Group.
  • With other Purchasing Managers, acts as TS/IATF16949 Champion of Purchasing.
  • Reviews Supplier Incident Reports and related cost recovery actions. Acts as Champion of Cost Recovery resolutions, involves Plant and Corporate Staff, and acts as Chief negotiator when necessary.
  • Manages raw material Purchasing Agent activities and workload distribution, fills gaps as needed.
  • Promotes Purchasing participation in Advanced Planning meetings of all types.
  • Assist with the Environmental Management System (EMS) reporting and ISO14001 compliance
  • Performs other duties as directed by Director of Purchasing, Quality & Materials Management.
  • Undertake specifically assigned projects relating to procurements.
  • Abides by the Midway Products Group, Inc. Confidentiality Agreement while in communication or correspondence with suppliers and customers
  • Determine which department records need retention and assure maintained.
.JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Must have knowledge of Raw material Specifications for all customers and Specification groups, ASTM, SAE etc. with the ability to read, decipher, compare and contrast these specifications across numerous disciplines from Sourcing, Engineering Education, Manufacturing etc..
  • Must have experience and thorough understanding of Ford, GM, FCA, Toyota, VW & Other OEM Resale or directed sourcing programs. How they work, the restrictions and conflict resolution procedures.
  • At least five years' experience with the purchase of automotive coil steel and aluminum and at least two years' experience supervising in automotive production purchasing.
  • Preferred degree in Business or a management related field
