Summary / Objective

This position reports to and assists the Purchasing Manager. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: obtaining quotes for purchasing materials, equipment and supplies from vendors; evaluating vendor quotes and products to determine the most desirable suppliers; and providing support to all MSE staff regarding material flow issues in production as well as office needs. A wide degree of creativity, latitude and self-management is expected. Strong organizational and time management skills are required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Operates computer terminal to input and retrieve data.
  • Operates office machines such as adding, faxing, duplicating machines and other general office equipment.
  • Assists with the coordination of inventory and orders weekly for all consumables in the company. Inclusive of office supplies etc.
  • Assists with monitoring price increases and searches for best pricing and services. Reports additive and color concentrate prices monthly to the Purchasing Manager.
  • Assists Purchasing Manager with the execution of PO's as directed by the EVP of Operations. Coordinates with transportation department to determine best shipping methods.
  • Assist with the scheduling of all railcar movement (switches) into and out of the plant. Although rare, this may require some weekend switches.
  • Assists with updating inventory reports for all raw materials, janitorial, and operational supplies on a weekly basis. Order from approved suppliers' raw material and supplies as needed.
  • Communicates with suppliers and contractors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability and delivery schedule.
  • Assists Purchasing Manager in receiving shipments into inventory and preparing proper paperwork for accounts payable department.
  • Assists Purchasing Manager with performing and reporting input into the MSE ERP System month end inventory on the 1st day of each month (including January 1st). Assist with updates of all- month end reports.
  • Coordinates contractor and service provider training for badge access, issues badges, and maintains database. Publishes periodic reports as directed on status of contractor and service provider training completion and badge issuance.
  • Maintains data base for all Certificates of Liability Insurance. Verifies that MSE has current insurance coverage insurance for suppliers. Publishes periodic reports as directed on status of supplier coverage.
  • Interfaces with all departments and resolves problems and issues.
  • Will assist Purchasing Manager in promptly handling all employee supply issues including the review of and approval by the Executive Vice President of Operations and prioritization of all supply orders.
  • Read and respond promptly to internal and external communications.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or needed by the Executive Vice President of Operations.
  • May assist, coordinate and attend internal and external social events for the company for suppliers.
  • This position is an hourly position and is non-exempt from overtime. Absenteeism and tardiness will not be tolerated.
  • You must conform with PPE requirements and Safety Rules.
PPE requirements and Safety Rules
  1. Eye protection is required everywhere in the plant
  1. Hearing protection is required when crossing the blue lines that are painted on the floor, heading towards the machines
  1. Safety toed shoes or boots are required everywhere in the plant.
  1. Cut gloves are required to be worn on the opposite hand you use to hold a knife when cutting.
  1. Maximum weight allowed to be lifted by one person is 80 pounds. Anything heavier requires the aid from another person, fork lift, big joe, or roll handlers.
  1. Face shields are required to be worn anytime you are over the die during start-up.
  1. Each machine is equipped with multiple safety switches and devices. Although the features are not the same for each machine, they all have safety devices in place to help protect you. These include, pressure sensitive mats, light curtains, pull cords, and emergency stop buttons.

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. The dress code is business casual. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. This position is occasionally exposed outdoor conditions.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position and general hours of work are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. This position does require occasional weekend/holiday work. You are required to participate in inventory on the 1st of every month, with no exceptions.

Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma required.
