Are you ready to go beyond?What You Will DoPratt & Whitney is seeking a highly motivated individual to support the manufacturing maturation of ceramic matrix composite (CMC) turbine components. CMCs are an enabling material that increases the temperature capability of jet engine components. Through successful development and application of these materials, P&W will deliver engines that are more fuel efficient, lighter weight and more durable for commercial and military applications.Monitor functionality and performance of equipment. Including vacuum pumps, high temperature furnaces, gas scrubbers, instrumentation, chemical feed systems.Apply principles of physics, mathematics, and material science to design and evaluate sub-system prototypes when equipment/system deficiencies are identified.Initiate and manage all phases of projects from design to installation and verificationDevelop predictive maintenance program, and critical spares inventory to minimize un-planned down time of equipmentWork closely with manufacturing and engineering integrated teams to develop new processes and implement new designs into production to enhance material performance, eliminate quality turn backs, escapes, and reduce overall product costsProvide focused & effective leadership in eliminating EH&S/Ergonomics/Human Factors risks and addressing quality issues as processes transitions into production.Create and implement strategies for automation to improve quality and minimize process costConduct root cause investigations as required and implement corrective actionsSupport a 24/7 operation as requiredQualifications You Must Have:Bachelor's degree in engineering5+ years of engineering experience, or an Advanced Degree with 3+ years of engineering experienceU.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.Qualifications We Prefer:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering or Material ScienceExperience developing new processes and successful transition to production.Extensive experience in installing and operating electro-mechanical production equipmentAbility to read and interpret technical drawingsStrong oral and written communication skillsAbility to develop strong interpersonal relationships and exercise influenceAbility to lead small teams to deliver outstanding results and overcome challengesKnowledge and effective practice of Environmental, Health and Safety requirementsWhat We OfferRelocationBenefitsWhat is my role type?In addition to transforming the future of flight, we are also transforming how and where we work. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
