Design Engineer III

Job Summary:

In collaboration with engineering and marketing teams, provides technical support to customers and internal departments as needed to support new and existing products. Works with our Operations Team to interpret and update existing drawings as needed. Directly interfaces with customers regarding technical aspects and functionality of our products.

Key Accountabilities
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Team, Sales, Engineering, Quality, Planning, Purchasing and Operations to ensure we deliver a successful project, on time, at acceptable revenues, with zero quality defects
  • Serve as technical expert and lead technical discussions with customers on application of Rexnord Aerospace products to provide/improve customer satisfaction
  • Maintain ownership of numerous new product introductions, development activities and Engineering projects across all functional lines and operating sites
  • Manage projects tightly to detailed master program schedules and milestones. Coordinate schedule compliance for all deliverables. Manage impact of material and delivery schedules to the operational aspects of the business
  • Lead and Participate in RBS events (the company's operating management system based on the Toyota Production System and the Strategy Deployment Process - advanced Hoshin Planning methodology)
  • Maintain and improve existing products
  • Create and maintain policies, procedures, engineering standards, programs, and work instructions
  • Assist in Identifying & driving continuous improvement opportunities within the facilities and at our supplier's locations.
  • Contribute to the breakthrough product development process
Job Requirements, Capabilities, and Success Factors
  • At least five years of experience designing bearings
  • Requires Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Knowledge of 3D Solid Modeling software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, CREO, and/or CATIA is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and advanced MS Excel skills
  • Experience with Design of Experiments is preferred
  • High level of interpersonal skills
  • Capable of working within a team structure
  • Detail oriented and self-motivated
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to create and interpret drawings and specifications
  • Knowledge of metals and composites; materials background a plus. Exposure to machining, heat treating, and/or grinding is a plus
