Finxact - Senior Performance Engineer

What does a successful Senior Performance Engineer do at Fiserv?

You will be a key contributor within the Architecture team and work to guide and build framework components across our suite of applications and services. You will coordinate with the rest of the team as they work on different layers of the infrastructure.

What you will do:
  • Design and develop Go application framework components that are scalable and maintainable across our enterprise
  • Ensure the evolving system can handle increased workloads, data and can horizontally scale to meet growing needs
  • Translate software requirements into stable, working, high-performance software
  • Work on interesting and difficult problems: optimize performance, design for high availability, and seamless integration with components
  • Develop services that interact with RDBMS and Messaging systems; optimize database interactions
  • Work closely with all major cloud provider infrastructure clusters and environments
  • Investigate and troubleshoot production performance optimization opportunities
  • Work with observability tools to interpret where performance issues occur and how to resolve them
What you will need to have:
  • 6-10 years of experience in software development
  • 2 years of experience with Go software development: Go frameworks and API routing packages: Gorilla/Mux or Chi, Dependency Management using Go Modules, Dep or similar tools
  • 2 years of experience building Go applications backed by a relational database such as Postgres or MySQL
  • 1-2 years of experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes
  • 1-2 years of experience with observability platforms: Datadog, Grafana, Splunk
  • 1 year of experience software version control, Git and continuous integration tools
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, work, and/or military experience
What would be nice to have:
  • Experience with Event Driven Architectures and Messaging brokers: RabbitMQ or Kafka
  • Experience with Code Generation
This role is not eligible to be performed in Colorado, California, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Maryland, New York, Nevada, Rhode Island or Washington.
