**Associate Director, Polymeric Drug Delivery**

at SalioGen Therapeutics Woburn SalioGen Therapeutics is seeking a highly talented scientist with expertise in polymer synthesis and formulation for delivery of nucleic acid therapeutics. The Associate Director will work on developing safe and potent delivery systems to enable in vivo gene editing. The ideal candidate should have strong understanding of the barriers to in vivo delivery of large nucleic acid cargo and prevalent nonviral delivery systems in use today, as well as areas of opportunity to further improve their safety, potency, and manufacturing.

**Primary Responsibilities:**

* Conceptualize, synthesize and/or work with outside CRO to synthesize novel polymers for use in nucleic acid delivery

* Lead prepare, characterization and evaluation of polymer:nucleic acid formulations

* Lead formulation and/or process screening to improve biophysical characteristics and in vivo gene editing in animal models

* Engage in development efforts for drug carrier design/optimization, as well as assay development and qualification

* Work cross-functionally, representing Drug Delivery group in cross-functional collaborations and meetings

* Help mentor junior scientists

* Document, summarize, and present studies and findings to internal and external audience

* Help with continual improvement of operational efficiency and lab practices

* Perform experiments, organize and analyze data, interpret results and summarize work in presentations and reports

**Qualifications & Skills Required:**

* PhD degree with 5+ years experience or BS or MS degree with 10+ years experience in formulation and characterization of nanoparticle drug delivery systems. Prior experience with polymer synthesis for nucleic acid delivery is required.

* Prior experience with formulation processes preferred, such as lipid and/or polymer nanoparticle formulation, tangential flow filtration, formulation stability testing, etc.

* Prior experience with nanoparticle analytical techniques a plus such as DLS, zeta potential, Ribogreen assay, osmolarity, gel/capillary electrophoresis, and HPLC/UPLC

* Self-motivated and scientifically rigorous individual with strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated record of independence and accomplishments

* Must be a team player, comfortable working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

* Capable of continuous learning, open-minded, curious, highly organized and detail-oriented

* Excellent oral and written communication skills across multiple teams/functions

* Highly self-motivated, driven, can-do, make it happen attitude with ability to own and drive projects
