Casella Construction is seeking a Field Engineer to join our Heavy Civil Construction team. The Field Engineer is responsible for supporting project Superintendents, Supervisors, and Foreman with detailed survey layout and technical support on multiple projects. The right candidate should be proficient in reading and interpreting plans. Must be able to collaborate with the project team and be proficient in layout using Total Station and GPS systems. Work may include but not limited to oversight of individual work activities, developing linework, and surfaces to support survey activities. Must have a strong understanding of Civil Construction and be a strong team player with a can-do attitude. Responsibilities: Reads and interprets plans. Collaborates with superintendents, supervisors, and foreman regarding project schedule, sequence, and project survey needs. Work as part of the overall project team. Performs all aspects of jobsite layout to include benchmarks/ control, initial job site layout, and quality control. Collects and organizes as-built information, and troubleshoots technical issues with survey equipment. Manges GPS guided excavators and bulldozers including equipment setup, calibration, and troubleshooting. Review work in progress for compliance with project drawings and specifications. Qualifications: Valid Driver’s License High School Diploma or GED 3+ years’ of similar experience. Thorough knowledge of planning and execution of all aspects of civil construction. This may include but is not limited to general earthwork, utility installation, roadway construction, general sitework, landfill construction, and/ or substation construction is required. Experience in reading plans and specifications required. Experience with GPS and Total Station is required. Experience with GPS guided equipment is preferred. Work well under pressure. Good written and verbal communication skills. Able to lift 50 lbs. stand, kneel, walk, and stop for extended periods of time. Able to work outdoors in all weather.
