**UF Health Shands Hospital - Gainesville**

Under the direction of Patient Transport Management, the Patient Transportation Coordinator is responsible for coordinating daily activities for transport staff to ensure transportation and courier request services are provided. The Patient Transportation Coordinator is also responsible for ensuring accuracy, timeliness and the safety of the patient, medical equipment and patient-related items to their destinations, enabling physicians, nurses, technicians and therapists to perform their duties in an effective manner. Ensures positive patient customer satisfaction; proper utilization of body mechanics; and adherence to policies, procedures and standards established by Shands and departmental management. Also responsible for dispatching; transporting patients in wheelchairs, beds or stretchers to patient care areas and ancillary areas;, Lift Tech assistance; and various outpatient clinics, as well as for discharge from the hospital. Work is performed under minimal supervision and is completed independently, as a management partner. The Patient Transportation Coordinator will also perform environmental services functions and light maintenance as required and additional duties related to the Support Services operations as needed.

**Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:**

* Associate must be proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint with the ability to learn and understand company systems in support of transportation operations.

* Excellent communication skills, including interpersonal, written and proper grammar skills.

* The ability to multitask and prioritize properly between guest requests, vendors, administrative tasks, service and leadership needs.

* Strong passion for customer service.

* A high level of critical thinking skills.

* High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

* Dispatcher, transport or hospital experience preferred.

* High school or equivalent.

* Must have good public relation skills.

* Ability to rapidly change daily schedule to meet the needs of the operation.

* Knowledge of wheelchair and stretcher transport preferred.

* Basic computer skills: applications such as Word, Access and Excel preferred.

* Two-year degree or three to five years of experience transporting patients preferred.

* Must pass level 2 background screening.

**Minimum Pay Rate -** Hourly: $14.70

**Midpoint Pay Rate -** Hourly: $18.15
