Youth Development Manager

CMCB is seeking a Youth Development Manager to join the programs team, reporting to the Chief Programming Officer. This role is an excellent position for candidates with interest in the arts, education, and youth development who have strong operational experience and can build trusting and authentic relationships with young people. The Youth Development Manager will manage CMCB's youth employment program and work closely with members across the organization to deliver highly impactful programming for the cohort of 20 - 30 youth and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to situate the program within CMCB's infrastructure while deepening partnerships with values-aligned arts organizations. Like all roles at CMCB, there is significant investment in professional development training, mentorship from senior staff, and opportunity for future promotion within the organization.
Status: Full-Time Salaried (40 hours/week), Exempt
Start Date: April/May 2024
Schedule: Hybrid, Monday - Friday, occasional evening and weekend hours with advance notice
Reports to: Chief Programming Officer (CPO)
Oversees: Youth Employees
Responsibilities
Program Implementation & Design
- Support design and implementation of equitable, learner-centered and culturally-inclusive programming for the youth cohort
- Build relationships with students and establish oneself as a trusted point of contact
- Collaborate with the CPO to devise effective systems to situate young peoples' work within CMCB's Educational Framework, CMCB's Courses of Study, and college/career readiness frameworks
- Work with the CPO to execute the Edvestors Bloomberg Arts Initiative Internship
- Collaborate with management to create and implement appropriate monitoring and assessment mechanisms
- Support data collection for all relevant reporting
- Maintain engagement with youth and suggest improvements
- Strategically recommend and facilitate professional development opportunities
- Partner with Human Resources to perform routine tasks required to administer human resource functions of the program
- Support youth employees as they grow skills around workplace norms, professionalism, and systems thinking
- Assist youth employees to plan and promote events
- Act as a resource for questions on college and career development
- Gather data and stories that make a persuasive case for the success of the program and the importance of arts sector workforce development
- Build relationships with other values-aligned community partners
Essential
- Minimum of three years professional full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience working with youth in an administrative capacity in nonprofit, education, or youth development
- Passion for youth career & skill development and program innovation
- Strong relationship builder and collaborator with the ability to find common ground among diverse stakeholders
- Proven ability to inspire and motivate youth
- Knowledge of and experience in the arts, education, and public school settings
- Must be adept at and comfortable with working in a culturally diverse environment with a commitment to DEI
- Must be organized, detail-oriented, and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and Google Suite
- Must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S as CMCB is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience utilizing data and outcomes to develop, implement, and evaluate programs and services, as well as recommend improvements to policies, programs and services.
- Fluency in Spanish, Haitian Creole, and/or Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese) is highly desirable
The duties of this position are performed indoors in a business/office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate during active programming hours and minimal otherwise. While performing the duties of this job, the person in this position must be able to to remain in a stationary position 50-75% of the time. They will need to constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery. The person in this position frequently communicates verbally with internal and external constituents and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
