About the Project: ALPA Construction is thrilled to lead the design and construction management of the Chicago Sky (WNBA) Practice Facility in Bedford Park, IL. This $38 million, 130,000 square foot facility features over 40,000 square feet of exclusive, state-of-the-art space for Chicago Sky players and staff. In partnership with The Village of Bedford Park, The Chicago Sky, and The Concord Group, we are delivering a project that not only meets the highest standards but also contributes to the advancement of women in sports. Role Overview: ALPA Construction is seeking an experienced and motivated Project Engineer to join our Chicago team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about contributing to significant projects that positively impact the community, such as the Chicago Sky Practice Facility. As a key team member, you will work closely with senior project managers and assistant project managers to ensure the successful delivery of this groundbreaking project. Key Responsibilities: Submittal Review Expertise: Lead the review and processing of submittals, ensuring all materials, equipment, and workmanship meet project specifications and high-quality standards. This includes the creation and management of a comprehensive submittal log and procurement log. You will be responsible for ensuring that all technical data, material samples, and product specifications are thoroughly examined and that accurate information is maintained. Additionally, you will oversee the timely submission of all items to keep the project on schedule. Project Oversight: Maintain rigorous standards of quality and ensure timely project completion through effective oversight and coordination. Schedule & Documentation Management: Coordinate and meticulously manage project schedules, meetings, and documentation to keep the project on track. Change Orders & Documentation: Oversee change orders, building permits, submittals, and other critical project documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Site Inspections: Conduct detailed on-site inspections to monitor progress and ensure adherence to project standards. Client Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for clients during the construction phase, managing contractor interactions and ensuring all contract terms are met. Project Strategy Implementation: Balance self-performance and outsourcing to meet project cost, schedule, and quality goals. Support in Problem-Solving: Assist the Senior Project Engineer in problem-solving and technical decision-making, providing essential support in addressing challenges and ensuring optimal project outcomes. Subcontractor Meetings: Schedule and organize meetings with subcontractors, ensuring clear communication and coordination across all parties involved in the project. Meeting Minutes Management: Create, maintain, and distribute minutes for all office-based meetings. This includes accurately documenting discussions, decisions, and action items, and ensuring that all stakeholders are informed in a timely manner. Technology Proficiency: Utilize construction management platforms, such as PROCORE, to enhance project efficiency. Project Closeout: Play a pivotal role in project establishment and closeout, ensuring all processes are completed smoothly and effectively. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering. EIT certification, working towards PE license. 3-5 years of experience in construction engineering, preferably with exposure to public projects. Proficiency in Procore, CAD, and basic engineering analysis tools. Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and engineering principles.
