What we are looking for:

Yazaki is looking for a Production Supplier Quality Engineer to join our Purchasing team in Canton, MI. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative and action-driven environment making lasting impacts on the organization. This position is hybrid.

What you will be doing:

  • Supplier Quality Management: Lead major component quality issues with assigned suppliers, ensuring GQRS-C compliance and timing. Guide supplier 8D process to completion and address day-to-day component quality issues. Manage supplier development, collect/analyze/verify/report supplier metrics for Scorecard & QIP. Lead supplier QIP programs with critical suppliers, conducting necessary audits and managing action items. Support Supplier Change Requests (SCR), develop and manage relationships, and drive supplier KPI improvement.
  • Communication and Coordination: Act as a liaison between the affiliate/Business Unit (BU) and suppliers. Collaborate with affiliate/BU on assembly of quality costs. Lead collection of quality costs with the supplier. Interface with internal customers regarding SQD activities and projects (CCRs and onsite support). Prepare, update, and communicate required presentations, data, issue status, and reports.
  • Process and Compliance: Ensure proper containment and coordinate sorting of in-house material as necessary. Conduct audits and processes (Risk Assessment, PPAP, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS)). Implement SQD processes, procedures, and initiatives. Manage and support the EHS Supplier of the Year program.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Manage job responsibilities for products routed through the El Paso Distribution Center (DC). Handle MDA, AAP, Debit/Credit, Air Freight, etc. Perform any other required tasks as necessary.
What you will bring to the table:
  • Technical degree (Engineering, preferred) or equivalent related experience
  • At least two years of manufacturing or quality experience in one of the following: injection molding, metal stamping, elastomer molding, assembly, high-speed cables, or electronic components
  • Travel: domestic and international, as required
  • Ability to resolve issues by applying creative thinking
  • Ability to think and act logically under pressure
  • Ability to resolve issues or propose resolutions to responsible parties
  • Must work independently and collaboratively
