Position Summary:
This fixed-term position is responsible for assisting the Director of Financial Accounting & Reporting in all aspects of the Controller's Office during the implementation project of the Workday Finance system. This includes account reconciliations, as well as the monthly and annual closing processes.

Position Summary:
  • Reconcile various balance sheet accounts, along with the identification, analysis and resolution of any discrepancies. This includes collaborating with different departments to resolve reconciling items and identify and implement process improvements.
  • Preparation of accurate monthly and annual accounting entries within deadlines.
  • Assist with the preparation of the monthly Financial Reporting Package, including variance analysis.
  • Completion of annual audit requirements.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Other projects and analyses as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting, or finance with an accounting emphasis.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and FASB accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Ability to develop business processes and increase efficiency of existing processes.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, analytical, research and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work with electronic financial systems (ERP systems and reporting tools), extract data, and reconcile financial transactions.
  • Technical proficiency with Word and advanced Excel and data analysis functions, ability to work with large amounts of data.
  • Dedicated professional and team player with excellent communication skills with people at all levels of the organization and good judgment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience in a university setting or other complex organizations with multiple companies and programs or cost centers.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Public Accountant license.
  • Possess the qualitative and quantitative skills normally acquired through experience obtained in public accounting.
  • Experience in a college or university, or other not-for-profit institution, including experience in a decentralized environment collaborating with other departments.
  • Experience and knowledge of Kuali Financial Systems.
  • Knowledge of fund accounting in general and specifically as it relates to the above job responsibilities.

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
