What's the job?
The Human Resources Generalist role will serve as the first level HR contact for the Kansas City, KS plant and provides full cycle, comprehensive HR support for the administration and implementation of a wide range of HR programs at a multi-shift 24/7 manufacturing facility. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to employee relations, benefits, recruiting, salaried payroll, HRIS and training.
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Generalist will assist with HR programs and will play an important role with helping the site to achieve business goals and objectives, administer a wide range of human resource programs to achieve HR goals and align with the strategies for plant, The HR generalist role is critical in cultivating a culture of engagement, stakeholder focus and drives continuous improvement in the HR function.
- Recruiting for hourly employees
- On-boarding / Off-boarding
- Employee and labor relations
- Maintains HRIS, creates reports and provides analysis
- Benefit Coordination for employees and retirees
- Training
- Employee engagement
- Salary payroll and provides backup for union hourly payroll
- Metrics review
- General administrative support
What do you bring?
Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related field.
- At least 3 to 5 years' experience of proven HR Generalist or similar HR Role (preferably in a union manufacturing environment).
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Planning and coordinating multiple priorities are essential elements of the job.
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in a union environment, understanding the grievance process and contract administration.
- Certification in HR - SHRM-CP, PHR, etc.
- Experience processing semi-monthly payroll for salaried employees and bi-weekly hourly Union employees
- Decisions making based on company policies and procedures, employment law, past practice and sound business judgement.
- Planning and coordinating multiple priorities are essential elements of the job.
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Meeting and interacting with all levels both internally and externally in order to deal with customer requirements fairly and constantly.
