Position Summary:

This position will provide on-site support for the Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory (NBL) Operations Contract (NOC) at NASA's Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, Texas. The position will interface with organizations and personnel across the program to ensure CDM rules are maintained and in compliance with government and contractual requirements. CDM maintains the integrity-assurance of government, contract, and company documentation and drawings, including library structures and master files by providing technical maintenance and administrative support in these disciplines. The individual will also be accountable for maintenance and storage of data artifacts in both electronic, and web-based environments, that conform to Government (NASA) and Company configuration management standards and policies. The position is targeted to become the CDM Lead for a small group of personnel, after transition and cross-training periods have been successfully completed.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintaining various baselines, master files, library documents, change control records, databases, drawing files, as-built records, and quality records while providing project lifecycle management support. Prepares, edits, and maintains contract documentation for the NASA division, the NBL facility, and program/contract projects.
  • Individual must be able to understand and interpret formatting requirements specified in contracts documentation to ensure compliance with customer and NOC standard formatting directions.
  • Responsible for maintaining and adhering to a system of CDM control for the preparation, release, and distribution of NASA and program documentation and drawings, ensuring the quality, availability, and accuracy.
  • Responsible for preparing, proofing, and maintaining contract documentation using Microsoft desktop publishing software for tasks and projects in support of technical publication activities.
  • Must be proficient in various documentation types consisting of various word documents and styles, PDF files, spreadsheets, PowerPoint files, engineering drawings, Quality records, Quality Management System procedures, source and specification control drawings, soft goods patterns, manufacturing documentation, customer contract data deliverables, and other documentation as required by the contract.
  • Responsible for configuration management of change control of associated database for configuration items throughout lifecycle.
  • Responsible for configuration management of change control for software code, in accordance with the software quality plan.
  • Individual may also be responsible for performing other contract and company related duties, as required.
Required Qualifications/Skills
  • Ability to be present, on-site, in a NASA facility
  • Must possess a strong working knowledge of Configuration Management principles and be flexible in their application in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Must be team oriented, with excellent written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with personnel across the contract and NASA, including senior management.
  • Advanced working knowledge in Microsoft office products including Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Access, and Visio.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word for document creation, formatting, editing, and form creation.
  • A minimum of intermediate-level SharePoint skills.
  • Advanced knowledge and skills with administrating commands within SharePoint to ensure efficient movement of documents in all phases from creation to release.
  • Advanced knowledge and skills with administrating commands in various applications for the purpose of baseline identification, capturing change control, status and accounting, and the release of baseline artifacts.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to stay on task with minimal supervision.
  • Self-starter, with the ability/desire to lead a small team.

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree/higher + 5 years related experience - additional related experience in lieu of degree may be considered
