This position is responsible for utilizing NetSuite's ERP software to monitor project expenses and generate detailed job performance reports. The successful candidate in this role will ensure that field operations accurately align with the accounting records. The Project Accountant ensures compliance with accounting standards and provides strategic insights to support decision-making and improve profitability. The ideal candidate must have a desire to learn, discover solutions, and take personal responsibility for quality, timeliness and process improvement. Essential Functions: Job Review Meetings : Participate and lead weekly meetings with the operations team to determine project financial status and project updates. Must be able to hold Project Managers accountable with operational leader’s support. Project Financial Management : Analyze contracts, budgets, change orders, job progress, and review weekly reports for completeness and accuracy. Collaboration : Work closely with other departments, such as operations, accounting, and project management, to gather relevant data, understand project hurdles, and support financial planning and analysis. Cost and Revenue Analysis : Review costs allocated to specific projects to ensure accurate cost tracking and revenue recognition reporting. Reporting : Prepare detailed reports, including cost reports, variance analysis, and profitability analysis to provide insights into financial performance. Compliance and Standards : Ensure compliance with accounting standards, financial regulations, and company policies to maintain the integrity of financial data. System Utilization : Utilize NetSuite for financial data management, reporting, and analysis to streamline cost accounting processes and improve data accuracy. Accounts Payable : Support Accounting Specialist with project-related invoices input, match purchase orders, managing approvals, and correct cost coding. Requirements: At least (5) years of experience in construction project accounting Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field Strong knowledge of project contracts and change order documents Must have excellent verbal communication and written skills Familiarity with Job Cost and Construction Accounting Proficiency at the intermediate level in Microsoft Office; primarily Outlook, Word and Excel Ability to prioritize tasks, work efficiently, meet short deadlines and take direction NetSuite ERP system experience preferred The candidate will be a critical component of all project cost accounting processes. A results-oriented and driven individual with a determined mindset to output accurate and timely reporting under reasonable deadlines.
