About the Position

The Education Supervisor conducts monitoring and oversight to ensure classroom operations align with Department and Early Education division goals, program policies and procedures, and the Office of Head Start Performance requirements, so school readiness outcomes of enrolled children are met.

OR- A bachelor’s degree AND 18 credits of course work in early childhood education AND more than one-year early education teaching experience, preferably in a Head Start or Early Head Start program

OR- An A.A degree in Early Childhood Education AND 3 years of supervisory experience AND more than one-year early education teaching experience, preferably in a Head Start or Early Head Start program

We Also Value- Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education/Development, experience working with diverse ethnic and low-income populations, paid work experience in Head Start/Early Head Start program- Two years in a supervisory and/or leadership role- Bilingual in English-Spanish. (Preference is given to current and former Early Head Start and Head Start parents)

Job Contributions- Facilitates ongoing monitoring per program schedules and guidelines to collect data to inform continuous improvement for achieving goals that ensure:
- Assigned service area meets local, state, and federal mandates/regulations related to child development and education services-
- Provision of high-quality early education and child developmental services, including for children with disabilities, that promote children’s cognitive, social, and emotional growth for later school success-
- Supervision and assessment of instructional staff in embedding responsive and effective teacher-child interactions-
- Assess the implementation of research-based curriculum, screening, and assessment procedures that support individualization and growth in all areas of development-
- Family engagement in children’s learning and development-
- Delivery of culturally and linguistically appropriate learning experiences-
- Provides supervision and guidance to assigned direct reports to support performance management that meets program expectations, including child safety and delivery of effective, high-quality early education program services-
- Provides regular and ongoing supervision of assigned staff to support individual professional development and continuous program quality improvement that is based on monitoring and program expectations- Regularly monitors and staffing patterns that continuity of care for all children enrolled ensures sufficient time for staff to participate in appropriate training and professional development and supports the provision of the full range of comprehensive early care and education services- Regularly monitors center-based services to ensure that learning is promoted through intentional, age-appropriate approaches to rest, meals, routines, and physical activity and provides feedback to the Site Supervisors in a timely manner regarding results of monitoring- Supports the implementation of curricula and that curriculum is monitored for implementation and fidelity- Thorough monitoring and supervision of Site Supervisors to ensure that:
- Assigned cluster completes developmental screenings within the required timelines for enrolled children-
- Procedures are being followed to refer children to mental health or child development professionals-
- Results of screenings are entered accurately and on time-
- Provides regular feedback to Site Supervisors regarding errors in data entry or follow-up needed on screenings-
