**Job Title: Adult Probation Officer**

**Starting Salary: $43,896.00 / $22.5110 per hour**

**Position Status: Full time**

**Position Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8 am - 4:30 pm**

**Position Summary**

The Adult Probation Officer is under general supervision of the General Probation Coordinator and the Deputy Director. The Adult Probation Officer supervises a caseload comprised of mainly moderate/high-risk clients that have been placed on probation by the courts. The Adult Probation Officer must be on the approved hire list maintained by the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
- A basic working knowledge of Illinois Criminal Law.
- Enforce orders of the court, by using administrative sanctions and incentives as well as filing violations with the court when necessary
- Attend court hearings and provide testimony as needed, demonstrating professionalism in both appearance and demeanor
- Maintain chronological case notes for each client, documenting all contacts.
- Refer clients to appropriate agencies to meet their needs and monitor services rendered.
- Ability to conduct and accurately score assessments and re-assessments to determine risk and need levels.
- Develop supervision plans consistent with assessment findings by using the Effective Casework Model.
- Commitment to Evidence Based Practices
- Demonstrate ability to read LEADS information as well as FBI and IBI rap sheets.
- Act as a representative of the court services office at various courts, jails and facilities in an effective and professional manner
- Complete probationer contacts in the field including home contacts as defined by Caseworks Standards.
- Demonstrate the ability to utilize all areas of the McLean County EJS system.
- Completion at the minimum 20 hours of training per calendar year. A new hire with no Illinois probation experience shall complete 40 hours of basic training through the Administrative Office of Illinois Courts
- Supervise interns as assigned.
- Assist any other units in Court Services as the need arises.

**Required Qualifications**
- Possess as Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
- Must be registered with the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts approved hire list

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university with major course work in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work or related field
- Trained and Certified in Restorative Justice

**Physical Attributes/Demands**
- Ability to use a computer daily
- Ability to effectively communicate daily
- Ability to work in a diverse setting while at times under pressure
- Ability to work independently as well as with a team
- Ability to work with high level of accuracy under short deadlines
- Ability to work non-traditional hours - weekends or evening hours, as needed.
