**Desired Skills and Experience**:

- **Four-year college degree preferred but not required.**:

- At least 3 years successful customer service or sales experience.
- Ability to represent yourself and our practice with credibility through professional, friendly interaction
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (bilingual a plus)
- Experience in services sales, retail sales, or marketing (health services a plus)
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records (Athenahealth EMR experience a plus)
- Experience with health insurance, referrals, authorizations, and claims.

**Detailed Team Member Description**

The Patient Relations Specialist reports to the Experience Team Leader.

The Patient Relations Specialist is primarily responsible for ensuring an outstanding patient experience and providing a concierge level of service.

**Essential Functions**:

- Schedule new and established patients for their appointments.
- Ensure patients information is accurately recorded in EMR.
- Inform patients of costs of care.
- Check in/check out patients and collect dues.
- Manage and obtain physician referrals, as needed.
- Maintenance and upkeep of the reception area.
- Scan documents into EMR.
- Correspond with staff on patient issues and concerns.
- Perform research and provide information to patients as requested.
- Assist Experience Team Leader, as appropriate.
- Patient language translation (as necessary and appropriate).
- Other duties as assigned.

- Ability to effectively work with physicians, patients, and other personnel in a cooperative, collaborative manner to maintain high patient satisfaction.

- Ability to work and adapt in a fast paced, patient service-oriented environment.
- Ability to maintain professional conduct in all work-related situations.

**Physical Requirements**:

- Normal vision, hearing, and/or the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
- Occasionally required to lift/carry items up to 20 pounds.
- Primarily work in a well-illuminated, climate-controlled, indoor, smoke-free medical office environment.
- Ability to travel in the medical office service area, across multiple offices, on a regular basis.
- Work demands may require alternative and/or additional working hours based upon patient and organizational needs.

**Education and Experience**:

- One to three years of work experience working in a medical or similar service-oriented industry preferred.
- Knowledge of health insurance, referrals, authorizations, and claims.
- Knowledge of computers, medical terminology and insurance in order to effectively handle the patient encounter preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience with Google Workspace, EMR, and HubSpot preferred.
