The purpose of this document is to provide a job description, including key qualifications, job requirements, and skills that are needed, and expected to be fulfilled by all new employees that are hired into the Direct Support Professional role.

As a new hire employee, expect to demonstrate to your prospective employer that you will execute and perform these duties, that you are detail-oriented, and capable of performing a quality job.

Qualifications:

- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High School Diploma and/or equivalent.
- Have access to reliable transportation.
- Have a valid driver’s license.
- Be certified in First Aid and CPR, and able to demonstrate / show proof of certification (or be able to obtain First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days of employment).
- Must be able and willing to display positive and proactive team based work ethic at all times.
- Have references and demonstrate past experience in caring for persons with disabilities.
- Able to read, write, and communicate accurately with the residents, team members, and other personnel.
- Willing to participate in all scheduled training.
- Must be able to pass health screening requirements, and participate in California State Health Required Vaccination programs.
- Must be able to pass a California FBI/DOJ background check prior to employment.

**Responsibilities**:

- Demonstrate strong communicative and written skills.
- Demonstrate ability to provide adequate care and supervision to residents both in the home and out in the community.
- Demonstrate ability to assist residents with prescription medication, and physician-approved over-the-counter (non-prescription) medications, which are self-administered by the resident, following DSP training protocol.
- Utilize the best practices, and standards of good nutrition, menu planning, and diet modification when planning, and preparing meals for residents.
- Ability to proactively update facility shopping list and perform grocery/supply shopping at designated times.
- Perform housekeeping duties, and assist with the maintenance of building real estate, and property - including, and not limited to:
¨ Sweep (hard-surface) Floors

¨ Vacuum (soft-surface) Carpets/ Rugs

¨ Mop / Wash Floors/ Floor Boards

¨ Clean Bathrooms (disinfect: toilet, toilet seat, toilet handles, bathtub & shower, sink, mirror(s), cabinet, toilet base, walls (as appropriate), and counter).

¨ Dusting hard surfaces (book shelves, entertainment center, facility file storage, etc.)

¨ Clean kitchen (clean and sanitize counters, sink, microwave front panel and inside, stovetop and oven, Refrigerator/freezer front panel and inside shelves/drawers)

¨ Keep pantry clean, organized, and up to date

Demonstrate an active awareness and knowledge of the local community services and resources, and how to access, communicate, and locate these services, and resources when needed.
- Demonstrate the ability to encourage residents, and other peers, or team members using consistent company methods, authorized protocol, a caring demeanor (tone, and body language), and positive reinforcement(s).
- Available for 24 hour shift coverage including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Document and maintain a log of daily duties, and tasks performed that have been completed or are still in progress.
- Be loyal to your word, honor our family values, while walking in faith as a team
