**General Statement**:
The **Assistant Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment - STEM - Elementary (PK-5) **will support the design and implementation for the curriculum philosophy framework for Mathematics, Science, and Computer Science. This includes the development process for creating, adjusting, and monitoring the implementation of curriculum, ensuring the identification of research based high-leverage instructional practices by content-area and grade level. The position is accountable for supporting the alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessments district-wide.
The **Assistant Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment - STEM - Elementary (PK-5) **reports to the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment - Elementary (PK-5).

**Major Responsibilities**:
Directs all aspects of the following areas:

- ** Curriculum Development and Implementation**
- _Develops and Implements PK-5 Curriculum Across the District _- Collaborates with Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment - Elementary (PK-5) on development of district curriculum philosophy and ensures alignment with the ongoing curriculum audit’s recommendations; collaborates on the development of curriculum designs framework (standards; power standards) and curriculum templates; leads curriculum teams in development of district curriculum; ensures the horizontal and vertical curriculum alignment for PK-5; supports e-platform for sharing of units across the district; ensures that technology is integrated with curriculum resources;
- _Supports the Design of Curriculum Development Procedures_ - Collaborates with Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment - Elementary (PK-5) to support the development of district curriculum philosophy and alignment with the ongoing curriculum audit’s recommendations; supports in the development of curriculum designs framework (standards; power standards), vets curriculum units to be shared across the district, collaborates to design framework and curriculum templates; supports e-platform for sharing of units across the district; ensures that technology is integrated with curriculum resources; ensures the horizontal and vertical curriculum alignment for PK-5; works with Grade Level Teacher Teams to develop rubrics that outline requirements for successful response on curriculum-aligned assessments;
- _Oversees the Implementation of Assessment Practices_ - Collaborates with central office administration to determine the Stamford Public School Assessment Calendar for district and state assessments; ensures assessment calendar is implemented within determined time frames; collaborates with curriculum teams to design district’s curriculum-aligned assessments; works with Grade level Teacher Teams to develop rubrics that outline requirements for successful response on district’s curriculum-aligned assessments; supports central office and building administration for all assessments including i-Ready, Smarter Balance, NGSS and universal screeners such as Math Universal Screener; collects and analyzes data to be shared with central office and building administration Teams to inform instruction and ongoing professional development; ongoing monitoring and revision of report card structure to ensure alignment with curriculum and district assessments.
- _Collaborates with MTSS TOSA_ - _Elementary STEM_ in choosing research based high-leverage instructional strategies and materials, and provides professional development and resources to teachers in curriculum design, implementation, and research based high-leverage instructional strategies.
- _Tier 1, 2, and 3 Instruction and Intervention_ - Collaborates with the MTSS TOSA - Elementary STEM to develop a philosophy for implementation for progress monitoring to ensure the alignment of Tier 1 instruction with Tier 2 and Tier 3 instruction and interventions for PK-5.
- _Develops Support Plan for New Teachers_ - Identifies curriculum, instruction, and professional development needs for all new PK-5 teachers.
- _Develops Professional Development_ - Identifies curriculum, instruction, and professional development needs for all PK-5 teachers throughout the year.
- **Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Evaluation and Development**
- _Program Evaluation_ - Collaborates with the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment - Elementary (PK-5) to help prioritize support areas needed for curriculum, assessment, and instruction; t
