We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Instructional Paraeducator to join our team at Stamford Public Schools. As an Instructional Paraeducator, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational needs of our English Language Learner (ELL) students.
Key Responsibilities- Work closely with certified teachers to provide individualized support to ELL students, reinforcing learning materials and skills.
- Assist in developing and implementing learning experiences tailored to the language developmental level of each student.
- Record student progress and achievements, under the direction of the certified teacher.
- Support the teacher in maintaining a well-organized and smoothly functioning classroom environment.
- Collaborate with the teacher to ensure the effective use of equipment and technology in the classroom.
- Supervise students during non-classroom activities, such as emergency drills, assemblies, and field trips.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of ELL and World Languages.
- Must possess or be willing to acquire the skills necessary to work productively with children.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions effectively.
- Exhibit good judgment, patience, tact, and courtesy.
- Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
- Exhibit proficiency in basic reading, math, writing, and speaking English and preferably Spanish.
- Preference given to individuals who are fluent in Spanish or other targeted language, based upon openings.
- Experience/training in working with children.
