**Creative Trails is looking for a DSP artist mentor **for The Art Department

**The Art Department **is a non-profit alternative art space for artists with intellectual uniqueness located in Portland. TAD’s mission is to provide professional support for artists striving to reach their creative potential, in an environment that encourages each individual to develop technical skills, as well as collaborations with local artists, strategies for self-promotion, and connections through community events that contribute to the greater Portland art scene and beyond.

No DSP experience required - we will provide DSP (direct support professional) training

**Schedule**:This is a full time position, Monday through Friday from 8am-3:15pm, with occasional evening and weekend events. Rate of pay is $16/hour.

You may occasionally be asked to work at the Art Certificate Program, another Creative Trails art program located in Biddeford (mileage will be reimbursed).

You may occasionally be asked to work Community Membership programming, which is 1:1 or 2:1 ratio support in the community (using an agency owned vehicle, with a higher rate of pay).

**Creative Trails has been around for over 15** years as the community support program of Support Solutions which is a private, non-profit organization. Support Solutions has been providing services to individuals with intellectual and mental health challenges in central and southern Maine since 1997.

**We provide our Direct Support Professional staff with paid training.** In return for your commitment to making a difference in the life of someone else, Support Solutions will provide a fun and rewarding work environment, and PAID in-house professional development (training
- Direct Support Professional certification, CPR/First Aid, and Safety Care). Also, Support Solutions’ status as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization may qualify you for Federal Student Loan Forgiveness.

**Here are just a few of the many ways we support our individuals**:

- Advocate and serve as an appropriate role model for the individual, and treat them with dignity and respect.
- Participate in developing and carrying out plans to meet the needs of the individual.
- Organize, supervise, and interact with the individuals supported.
- Be creative with planning activities in the community.
- Transport individuals in the community in a company van, or your personal vehicle.
- Complete required documentation.

**To be considered a GREAT CANDIDATE you must**:

- Have a high school diploma or GED
- Willingness to undergo background checks in accordance with local law/regulations
- Have an acceptable driving record and background checks (including criminal, driving, the OIG, DHHS, APS, and other governmental agencies)
- Have a valid MAINE driver’s license and a reliable insured vehicle
- Be able to go to the Support Solutions office in Auburn to complete new hire paperwork and orientation training.
- Have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
- Specific skill set (through education/life experience) matching program need.
- Personable and able to work within a customer service framework.
- Refined and well-organized multi-tasking skills.
- Have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
- Good moral character -- demonstrated by three positive references.
