The International Center of Photography (ICP) is the world’s leading institution dedicated to photography and visual culture. Through our exhibitions, education, public programs, and community outreach, we offer an open forum for dialogue about the power of the image. Since our founding in 1974, we have presented more than 700 exhibitions and offered thousands of classes, providing instruction at every level. Our new integrated center on the Lower East Side reunites our school and museum in one space to become the cultural anchor of Essex Crossing.

**Position Summary**:
The ICP Public Programs team is seeking a Museum Educator to develop and implement community focused museum education programs at ICP. This position will support existing weekend programming series, Cameras & Coffee, ICP Photobook Club, in addition to developing and overseeing weekend youth and family activities and events and leading group tours of ICP’s exhibitions and school. Additional duties involve working on museum educational materials such as didactic materials and accessibility audio guides.

**Essential Functions and Duties**:
Program Development and Implementation
- This position is responsible for developing and leading weekly museum education tours through ICP’s current exhibitions. This person will collaborate with the associate director of public programs and ICP curators on interpreting and developing tours and content for each museum exhibition cycle.
- This position is responsible for developing hands-on experience focused education and interpretive activities within the museum, with an emphasis on welcoming folks of all ages and abilities to ICP.
- Educator will deliver a variety of online and in-person exhibition programs, including:

- Public exhibition tours
- Group tours for school and tour groups and other private bookings
- Hands-on learning experiences engaging with a range of accessible photographic and artistic practices.
- Community meet-ups
- Research museum education practices within the field and develop new initiatives for audience engagement that are complementary to ICP’s exhibition and educational programs.
- Act as an ambassador of the institution, both internally and externally, and cultivate and maintain relationships with a diverse constituency of artists, organizations, and public audiences.

Program Production
- This position is responsible for coordinating and producing assigned programs and upholding administration systems for those programs, such as filling out event forms, coordinating A/V, and administering speaker forms.
- Managing ICP’s ticketing portal (Acme Ticketing) for assigned programs.
- Collaborating with multiple departments, (Curatorial, Education, Operations, IT, and Visitor Experience,) within ICP to successfully plan and implement events.
- Leading and implementing on-site assigned programs and events.
- Developing and maintaining an evaluation system to measure success of programs

Marketing
- This position works closely with the marketing team and will collaborate on newsletter features, social media features, on-site materials, and targeted audience outreach.
- Develop/maintain/correspond with list of educators and organizations for outreach

**Requirements**:
**Preferred Qualifications**

**Education Qualification**:

- Bachelor’s degree required with a focus in Art Education, Art History, Arts Admin, Museum Studies, Visual Culture, Visual Studies, or other humanities programs with an emphasis on visual representation; suitable alternative experience will be considered.
- Proficient familiarity and advanced knowledge in photography, photographic processes, and/or visual culture (contemporary or historical) required.

**Experience Qualifications**:

- 2-3 years' experience within museum education and/or transferable experiences engaging with educational, cultural, or public events. Experience leading youth programs is preferred.

**Competency Requirements**:

- Strong public speaking and writing abilities.
- Language skills, especially languages spoken in the neighborhoods surrounding ICP (Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese), are a plus
- Detailed-oriented with demonstrated experience organizing program structures.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Ability to think expansively, this position is encouraged to envision creative and experimental methods for engagement.
