The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The NYPD strives to foster a safe and fair city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of Department operations and solve the problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between the people and its police, and by pioneering strategic innovation.

The Facilities Management Division administers and supervises the maintenance of Department buildings, while implementing and supervising the use of capital funds allocated for facility management. The Facilities Management Division exercises management control over the Building Maintenance Section, Campus Management Section, and Custodial Services Section.

Specific duties will include but are not limited to:
1 Directs a large staff of project management professionals engaged in managing the timely and cost-effective implementation of major capital projects for a particular client agency or programmatic type.
2 Directs the oversight of major capital construction projects from Initiation to completion.
3 Serves as capital budget officers for agencies with very large and complex capital budgets.
4 Directs technical project management operations including project planning, budget, and scope development, vendor procurement, design and construction management, and project closeouts.
5. In the temporary absence of supervisor, may assume the duties of that position.

Monday to Friday, 8 AM - 4 PM

Minimum Qualifications1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, business administration, or public administration, and five years of full-time satisfactory experience in the planning, administering or expediting of engineering design, and/or construction, or coordinating a very large engineering project, two years of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity; or
2. A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and nine years of experience as described in "1" above; two years of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity; or

Preferred Skills1. Knowledge of the following: engineering, engineering technology, architecture, landscape architecture, architectural technology, construction, construction management, construction technology, sustainable design, urban planning, urban studies, city planning, transportation planning, business administration, or public administration. 2. Excellent communication skills, including public speaking. 3. Strong time management and task abilities 4. Excellent management skills, including the ability to listen to and motivate staff. 5. A driver license valid in New York State.- Residency RequirementNew York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
