Let’s do this Let’s change the world In this vital role the Director, Corporate Affairs, Operations serves as a key link between Amgen’s corporate center and our global manufacturing sites, ensuring seamless implementation of consistent messages, leverage of global assets, and alignment with our network model. The role acts as the backbone for the Operations Corporate Affairs organization, supporting a positive business climate at our locations and driving Operations' key external initiatives. The role also collaborates with the enterprise media team to garner favorable press coverage for Amgen's operating capabilities and innovation. The Director will report directly to the Executive Director of Corporate Affairs, Operations.

**Key responsibilities of the Director of Corporate Affairs - Operations will include**:

- Leads the development and execution of communication strategy, content, and materials to convey the Operations’ narrative, both internally and externally
- Supports Corporate Affairs site leads and the extended leadership in communicating the vision, strategy, and priorities of the organization to various stakeholders
- Delivers owned media opportunities through the development and execution of a comprehensive strategy integrated with the Enterprise Content team and leverages Amgen's digital and social media channels to amplify key messages, showcase thought leadership, and engage with stakeholders.
- Monitors the earned media landscape, staying abreast of industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging issues, to inform communication strategy and ensure timely and effective responses
- Works proactively with the enterprise media team to identify, pitch, and secure media opportunities with business, health, trade, and consumer press, spanning a variety of topics of key importance to Amgen
- Builds and maintains relationships with key media outlets and influencers, and prepares spokespeople for media engagements
- Manages issues and crises related to Operations, in coordination with the enterprise media team and other relevant functions
- Ensures alignment and consistency of Operations communication across regions, sites, and channels
- Measures and evaluates the effectiveness of communication activities and adjusts accordingly

**Basic Qualifications**:
Doctorate degree and 4 years of Corporate Affairs experience

OR

Master’s degree and 7 years of Corporate Affairs experience

OR

Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of Corporate Affairs experience

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing strategic communication plans with foresight in anticipating and solving complex communication issues
- Experience in maintaining relationships, ability to pitch, and highly effective at identifying “big picture” stories that are of interest to premier publications
- Superior verbal, written and digital communication skills, including the ability to understand and translate complex Operations language, effectively leverage AI and engage with senior leaders
- High emotional intelligence coupled with refined interpersonal and relationship management skills; enthusiastic, team player, and self-starter; serious commitment to hard work and excellence
- Strong project management and facilitation skills
- Strategic problem solver with the ability to think quickly, analytically, and creatively to accommodate a dynamic environment and develop actionable programs that address business objectives
- Knowledge of the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry and the Operations function
