**Position Summary**:
The Contract Safety & Emergency Response Specialist provides daily site support through guidance in the Health, Safety, Security, and Emergency Response disciplines. This position will demonstrate visible Health and Safety presence and commitment through daily positive interactions while holding everyone accountable to the client's Health and Safety policies and procedures. The Contract Safety & Emergency Response Specialist will also lead the site’s emergency response team, which includes managing, coordinating, and maintaining all emergency response rosters, drill planning, scheduling, support and critique management, training, and metrics development & tracking. In addition, the Contract Safety & Emergency Response Specialist performs routine tasks and duties that prepare the organization and assist it in the prevention or improved response to events.

**Responsibilities**:
Be visible in the field to promote good health and safety practices.

Supports the line organization, plant functional teams, and contractors in the field via direct involvement in routine and non-routine work activities.

Continuously seeks out ways to improve Health and Safety cultural awareness.

Complete weekly safety audits, assessments, and checklists as required.

Serve as Contractor Administrator (Responsible Person) for safety service contractors.

Serve as HES trainer for safety, emergency response, and life-critical procedures.

Participates in formal and informal safety & health assessments/audits/investigations of safety, security, emergency response, facility, and compliance-related programs and procedures.

Assist with coordinating Industrial Hygiene (IH) sampling activities, multi-gas monitor, radio, and PPE programs.

Member of the site’s VPP Team and may assume the role of Coordinator.

Serves as the site’s Emergency Response Coordinator.

Must serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team and must meet ERT qualifications.

Responsible for ERT daily operations, including inspections, pre-planning, team status, firehouse, bunker house, equipment, vehicles, trailers, supplies, and ability to identify future needs.

Coordinates and may serve as a member of the site’s Hurricane/Inclement Weather Rideout team.

Coordinates the site’s emergency response drill program to support tactical emergency response preparedness.

Assist with the coordination of annual ERT medical evaluations.

Alternate point of contact for the site’s emergency response organization. Represents site at monthly Channel Industries Mutual Aid (CIMA) and Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) meetings.

Assist with the management of the site’s fire protection system.

**Qualifications**:
Minimum two (2) years of safety experience in a refinery/chemical production facility in an operations, maintenance, or equivalent role.

Must have served in an ERT leadership role (i.e., Fire Officer, Rescue Leader, Hazmat Lead, etc.) and must understand Emergency Response leadership/management principles.

Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to develop PowerPoint presentations.

Self-starter, ability to plan/organize tasks and consistently produce results with mínimal supervision.

Ability to design, develop, and implement training programs to meet all aspects of required regulatory training. (Procedures, Hazmat, Rope Rescue, Safety, etc.)

Interpersonal skills to effectively lead, influence, and work across organizational boundaries, including maintenance, operations, capital, and contractors.

Must be available nights, weekends, and as needed.
