**Job Posting Description**
- The Lab Processing Tech is responsible for the following:

- Performs pre analytical specimen preparation, including stamping in specimens and verifying ID, identifying appropriate tests, evaluating specimen quality and test set up.
- Prepares tests for send out and special requests.
- Performs computer functions, such as order entry, inquiries, canceling tests, and advanced functions such as result entry and worksheet/report maintenance.
- Provides courteous and timely customer service to providers calling the lab.
- Handles more complex inquiries.
- Performs daily QC and routine evaluation of instrumentation such as centrifuges, refrigerators, and incubators.
- Maintains workplace in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Monitors supply inventory to keep work area adequately stocked and orders as necessary.
- Trains Level I staff and/or operates laboratory equipment/instruments, depending on lab placement.
- Monitors, continuously, specimen workflow and confers with supervisor to adjust staffing as necessary; ensures quick response for STAT specimens.
- Participates in departmental Continuous Quality Improvement CQI programs, as necessary.

The Lab Processing Tech must have the following:

- One year of relevant experience. Bachelor’s degree in lieu of 1 year relevant experience.
- High School diploma or GED required.
