The Office of Leadership Engagement & Experiential Development seeks an entrepreneurial, collaborative, energetic, and resourceful professional to serve as th**_e Assistant Director for Student Organizations_** to provide visionary leadership, management, development, and effective advising for student organizations. The AD for Student Organizations will create and communicate a compelling and unifying vision for undergraduate and graduate student organizations that builds community and generates excitement, enthusiasm, and engagement. This role supports the goal of enhancing the student experience by bolstering student engagement, promoting student development, and increasing student belonging and success. This role will also be key in co-creating with students to build community at Hopkins. The Assistant Director for Student Organizations is part of a professional staff team in the Leadership Engagement & Experiential Development Office, a unit within the Division of Student Affairs. The Leadership Engagement & Experiential Development Office is responsible for hosting university-wide traditions, supporting student development through student organizations, and consistently creating engagement opportunities for JHU students.

The Assistant Director for Student Organizations is responsible for providing strategic leadership for student organizations including, but not limited to facilitating the advising structure, creating and executing student leadership and learning opportunities, hosting an annual student leadership conference, and managing the student engagement platform. The Assistant Director establishes and maintains cooperative and collaborative working relationships with students, staff, faculty, and community members to facilitate student engagement and involvement. This position reports to the Associate Director of Leadership Engagement & Experiential Development. Evening and weekend hours are to be expected.

**Specific Duties and Responsibilities**
- Student Organization Infrastructure and Management (25%)_
- Provides oversight for student organization management processes, including but not limited to new student organization processes, re-registration process, event approval, finance, and purchasing.
- Manage student organization storage space and student organization supplies.
- Coordinate communications with student organizations, leaders, and advisors regarding their work.
- Creates infrastructure for assisting student organizations with event planning, including scheduling based on the academic and event calendar, budgeting, contracting, facilities, safety, food, and other related needs.
- Monitor student organization program budgets and work with the Leadership Engagement & Experiential Development Budget Team to help groups manage finances.
- Monitor student organization compliance with all university and LEED policies and procedures.
- Liaison with various student clubs and organizations and advise individual students and student groups in event planning and management concerning university policy and event risk management.
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of the student engagement platform and student organization engagement database, also known as Hopkins Groups.
- Collaborate with university partners to maintain, enhance, and update Hopkins Groups, the LEED website, and other forms of communications/marketing.
- Supervision and Advising (25%)_
- Develop and execute training for advisors of student organizations.
- Convene category coordinators of student organizations on a monthly basis.
- Meet regularly with student organization leaders; attend a variety of organization meetings and events as possible.
- Advise and meet weekly with the Student Government Association's Student Organization Committee.
- Maintain regular contact with student leaders to develop responsible decision-making, assess student interests, respond to student needs, and anticipate student programming/leadership issues.
- Assist in recruiting, training, and supervising undergraduate and graduate student staff.
- Program Development & Implementation (20%)_
- Direct the implementation of a comprehensive, multi-day Student Involvement Week program, which takes place during the spring semester.
- Design and implement an involvement guide to help students plan their engagement at JHU.
- Assist with the Leadership Weekend planning committee.
- Coordinate and implement the bi-annual Student Involvement Fair encompassing over 400 student organizations and University departments.
- Develop a series of informative workshops for prospective student organizations seeking university recognition.
- Work with the Associate Director of Leadership Development to plan and implement a series of workshops that will provide resources and training to student organization leadership and organization advisors.
