The Fish Restoration Program is seeking a motivated, self-starter to work as a Wildlife Habitat Assistant. The Fish Restoration Program is part of an interagency group tasked with restoring 8,000 acres of tidal wetlands within the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. The Wildlife Habitat Assistant will work with program staff to plan and build restoration projects as well as manage habitats on restoration properties. This position will be responsible for maintaining equipment, planning and carrying out invasive species control, assisting program staff conducting monitoring activities, and creating and maintaining working relationships with landowners and the general public.

Working Conditions

Work schedule and hours will vary as field work is scheduled based on the tides and type of work being conducted. Work in inclement weather conditions including operating boats and four-wheel drive vehicles on narrow levees and roads. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and equipment and be prepared to travel using a State vehicle. Work with other field staff in close quarters (cab of a truck).
