What You’ll Do
As Outreach Housing Specialist with Homebase, you’ll help families who are at-risk of homelessness or who are already homeless by providing services to ensure housing stability in permanent housing. You’ll coordinate services and activities to find and engage those most in need of assistance and those who can benefit the most from Homebase services. And you’ll also conduct outreach, pre-screenings, household assessments, community presentations, as well as network with community agencies, property owners, and brokers.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Maintaining constant contact with community partners to engage clients who are at risk of becoming homeless in order to connect them to resources to ensure housing stability.
- Developing effective, trusting relationships with identified clients with a focus on facilitating housing placement, stability, and independence.
- Attending community meetings and events to organize and conduct local informational events in order to provide information about Homebase resources to organizations and community members.
- Developing new housing resources and networking with current NYC and NYS housing subsidy programs.
- Conducting and arranging for outside presentation of client-centered workshops to provide information about housing, finances, budgeting, navigating housing court, and other topics related to securing and maintaining permanent housing.

**You’re a great fit for this role if you have**:

- High School Diploma or equivalent OR equivalent experience and skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
- Experience working with challenges faced by people at risk of homelessness.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) fluency (Many of our clients are native Spanish speakers).
- Prior experience in outreach, housing, assessment, counseling, and crisis intervention preferred.

**It would be helpful (but not required) if you have**:

- Valid US driver’s license.
- Knowledge of CARES.
