**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Serve as a representative of the City of South Bend, demonstrating positive attitude and progressive actions through the display of professionalism, courtesy, and appropriate tact and discretion in all interactions.
- Leads Department in acquiring and maintaining accreditation.
- Maintain the national accreditation of South Bend Parks and Recreation (i.e., NRPA & CAPRA)
- Evaluate program operations and activities; recommend improvements and modifications. Also, identify and recommend new programs, activities, and special events
- Responds to internal and external customer questions and complaints related to department, operations, researches problems and initiates problem resolution.
- Assists with coordinating and facilitating special events for the city including themes, concepts, and objectives in relation to organizational goals.
- Assists in managing development and special event budgets.
- Guide investment of resources including time, effort, and funding into projects and initiatives that best serve the area in collaboration with CDO and others as assigned
- Will be asked to serve on committees that increase event or development opportunities.
- Project Manager serves as a liaison between city departments, business owners and vendors relating to accreditations and certifications.
- Assists in the planning, coordination, and implementation of a major city-wide two-day event.
- Seeks approval to purchase necessary materials as needed for awards or certifications.
- Assists with reports and outcomes of events to Chief Development Officer and others as required.
- Recommends opportunities for special events and community partnerships with outside organizations.
- Explore opportunities for partnership and collaboration with the gaming industry to leverage the growing popularity of gaming platforms for fundraising and awareness-building purposes.
- Research best practices, cutting edge programs and events.
- Guide and monitor accreditation reporting for the Department.
- Coordinates with public safety, legal, risk management, insurance, and external stakeholders.
- Works with marketing team to promote events and development.
- Utilizing data-driven insights and analytics to inform fundraising strategies, identify potential donors, and measure the effectiveness of fundraising efforts.

**EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Parks & Recreation, Event Planning, Non-profit Management, or a closely related field (or equivalent experience).
- A minimum of three years’ experience in project management or grant writing, preferred.
