- Carry out a diversified range of tasks related to directing and coordinating the day-to-day activities of the Metallography, Disc Inspection, Data Analyst, and Receiving Areas within the Reading Met Lab, as it pertains to inspection and analysis of materials.
- Responsible for the quality of the analytical data and administration of safety policies and procedures.
- Assign work to laboratory personnel and adjust assignments to ensure the accurate and timely completion of inspection and analysis on daily basis.
- Communicates the goals and objectives of the department to staff.
- ** Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.**
**REQUIREMENTS FOR GROUP LEADER - MET LAB**
- High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent experience as determined by department management.
- ** Five or more years of relevant laboratory experience.**:
- Ensures a safe workplace. Promotes ways to improve the quality of life and protect the environment in the communities in which the Company does business.
- Has developed depth and breadth of knowledge and skills in own department or area. Applies knowledge and skills to complex problems, coordinates work beyond own department or area of expertise.
- Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing processes; makes recommendations to improve standard procedures.
- Anticipates and recommends changes to current processes to respond to customer needs.
- Ability to supervise, train and coach others.
- Ability to operate a PC, LIMS, and mainframe computer terminal.
- Ability to utilize SAP software for work order entry, supply ordering, and non-stock requisitions, including working with local maintenance teams, store personnel, and outside vendors.
- Ability to operate/use metallographic testing equipment.
- Ability to objectively evaluate performance.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
